Noise Pollution
NOISE POLLUTION - not something any community should accept!
LIVEABILITY, has to be a priority in Town Planning. NOISE pollution is a factor that must not be overlooked. Mitigation track padding further north has failed.
Compare the noise factor of Light Rail currently running in the northern Gold Coast (watch video) to the proven noise cancelling of the ELECTRIC BUSES purchased recently for BRISBANE. Electric buses are very quiet. Electric cars are very quiet. Electric and Hydrogen trucks are very quiet.
Federal government have told us that one of the priority factors Light Rail was chosen by Qld State Government was the life expectancy of 50 YEARS.
Did they not consider that saddling the Gold Coast with a dinosaur technology for 50 years when solar-powered and battery-powered electric transport from private ownership to commercial trucks and buses will liberate more than air quality, it will dramatically reduce noise pollution that we all agree must not be ignored.
Good Town Planning overlooks nothing, compromises are deliberately limited yet Light Rail, steel tracks, steel wheels is acceptable? In 2021 that is unacceptable.

Offical know about the noise, quote:- "it's a pity, but that's the way it is".
Also since this news story appeared research has recorded factual speeds with an average of 25kms per hour. Trams are too heavy to stop quickly so intersections, stations, traffic lights, pedestrians means on a good run they 'might' hit 27kms per hour. Noisy and slow. Is this the acceptable as a rapid transport service?
Luxury electric buses are the future of Brisbane. Cleaner, greener, hi-tech efficiency all round including on board chargers for your phone, lap-top, iPad, smart phones.
Governments promise Heavy Rail down the M1 and Light Rail down the GC Highway - blessing or curse?
Burleigh, Koala Park, Palm Beach, Currumbin, consider the noise pollution of TWO steel rail tracks just metres apart.
Scientific studies have proven ... "Noise maps were also calculated showing noise pollution generated by the train traffic. ... The residents reported feeling affected by the noise generated by passing trains, which causes irritability, headaches, poor concentration and insomnia, and 88% of them claimed that nocturnal noise pollution is the most distressing."
